There is always so much going on with Morrissey! As you may know, he is currently touring and his show in San Jose on Wednesday night didn’t turn to be as calm as expected. The famous singer had canceled a series of shows in the Bay Area, and when he finally got on stage at San Jose’s City National Civic, many fans rushed on stage during the song ‘One Day Goodbye will be Farewell’. At the beginning, everything seemed fine, and he was even enjoying all the hugs, then things turned all wrong. How such a thing is possible? The security was totally incompetent and in less than a minute someone really tackled the singer, and the concert was over! He didn’t finish the song and many fans were totally pissed off as you can hear in the video below.
He was playing the Observatory the following night and many people were in fear of a cancellation because of this incident, but another story broke up… because there is not a dull moment in the Moz’s life. I know The Observatory quite well, and the venue has several rooms: if the large one was for Morrissey, We Are Scientist and the Scottish band PAWS were scheduled to play in the smaller one. However, according to Brooklyn Vegan, PAWS had posted (then deleted) a long post on their Facebook explaining that the Moz did want to play a the same time than these bands in the same venue and was refusing to play until the other show is cancelled:
‘Morrissey is currently trying to have our slot at tonights show in Santa Ana, California cancelled because he is playing in another room in the same venue and wishes for their to be no other artists performing in his vicinity.’ Posted PAWS on Facebook. ‘This is an unbelievable act of complete and utter selfishness that should not be tolerated. This rich, has-been, ego maniac acting like a baby throwing toys from a pram. To satisfy his little power hungry brain. A complete disregard for others and a baffling lack of support/respect for young, hard working musicians.
People like this, with attitudes like this displays a classic example of why the music industry is still awash with disgusting garbage that should by now have been snuffed out. Pedestals, self righteous entitlement, disrespect and “competition”. Geez. It’s not like we’ve come all the way from Scotland to play for nothin’…
I’m just going to leave this photo and sentiment with you and we’ll report back with developments. We won’t go out without a fight!
What do you all think?’
May be it was a bit too much insult in the same post, so they deleted it, and both shows did happen, with We Are Scientist/PAWS playing a little bit later than originally scheduled, ‘ANTA ANA! So everyone can play a full set, tonight’s show will start after Moz’s bedtime’ tweeted We Are Scientist and explaining more on Facebook:
‘When it became apparent that Morrissey’s set was going to overlap with the WAS/PAWS bill, everybody really did agree that couldn’t work — even though the two venues are separated by a reasonably thick wall. Moz fans wouldn’t have been able to hear a lick of what they’d paid to see. Both bands on our bill play at nuclear volume, triumphant volume, and it goes right through walls. Putting on the two shows simultaneously would be like screening a mumblecore film and a Michael Bay movie in theaters divided by a cotton bed sheet. So we’ve moved the WAS/PAWS show a little later, which will probably come as a nice surprise to our fans, many of whom have had to set their alarms especially early this afternoon in order to make the show.’
According to Twitter, Morrissey was fine at Santa Ana, apparently nobody knocked him down this time.
