A few weeks ago, Jennifer Lopez was caught at her little I-cash-money-and-I-don’t-do-google game, as she performed for the birthday of Turkmenistan president Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, dictator and human rights violator, but the Hollywood Reporter is now saying this is even worst than we had imagined! She has actually received more than $10 million from different Russian dictators and corrupted businessmen, and she has apparently repeatedly forgotten to google any of their names.
Human Rights Foundation has revealed that Lopez received $1 million from Uzbek industrialist Azam Aslamov to perform at his son’s wedding, earlier she was paid $1.4 million to perform at the birthday celebration in Moscow of corrupt Russian businessman Telman Ismailov. In 2012, Lopez was booked by the dictatorship of Azerbaijan to perform at a FIFA soccer tournament for $2.5 million and her representatives negotiated a contract to put together a music festival in Azerbaijan with the dictator’s wife. And it goes on and on! In October 2012, Lopez traveled to dictatorship Belarus, where she performed a leg of her world tour, in November 2012, Lopez sang happy birthday to Alexander Yolkin, a Russian bureaucrat accused of corruption, and oops! Yolkin was even arrested the day before Lopez’s performance!
So they have estimated that she received a total of $10 million from these diverse birthday parties for dictators and I wonder how she was able to get away with all this! Her Wikipedia entry says ‘entertainer, businesswoman, producer and philanthropist’, so it may be time for an update! Corrupted entertainer Jenny-of-the-Soviet-block seems more appropriate. I bet she wouldn’t have had any problem to sing at Stalin’s birthday.
As someone who pushes her modest/poor origins every time she can, she may remember what it is to be in needs, so now if she could make a $10 million donation for the charity of her choice, all would be forgiven!
