At a time when there is a lot of Mormon bashing, didn’t an evangelical leader recently say that Mormonism is a cult? As if his religion wasn’t one!
I actually can’t believe that people make fun of their believes when these same people are into all kinds of non-sense superstition.
So the Mormons needed a new frontman, not Mitt Romney, no, a true rock star like,… Brandon Flowers. The Killers singer appears in a new video promoting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.
He is proud of it and says how important his family life is and not always compatible with his rock star status, but let him speak up:
‘There are lots of connotations that come along with popular music or rock music, and it's usually very sex driven or money driven, and I realized early on that that wasn't the road for me.’
‘May be because of the foundations laid for me in my life by my mom taking me to church. I wanted to take a different road.’
‘A lot of it (Mormonism) is based around starting a family and realizing that that's what is important to me. In a lot of ways, it's kind of surpassed the music now, for me.’
Ending with a dramatic: ‘My name is Brandon Flowers. I'm a father, I'm a husband, and I'm a Mormon.’
A recent poll by Lawrence Research this year found that nearly half of Americans associate Mormonism with polygamy and so have a bad opinion about it, but if this new video does not make up for all the criticisms, I don’t know what will do it.
Flowers is the Tom Cruise of the Mormons, he is the new cool face for this ‘cult’, so let me remind a few facts about his religion:
– The Church was the primary backer of California’s Proposition 8, which ended gay marriage in California a few years ago.
– Polygamist Mormons still exist in many small towns on the border between Utah and Arizona.
– In 2010 Utah proposed a law that would charge a woman with criminal homicide for inducing a miscarriage or obtaining an illegal abortion.
-Joseph Smith was a con artist.
