1.YA YA – Lee Dorsey – Willful, eccentric, playful, a novelty song with the whimsy removed.
2. Marvin's Room – Drake – This is as straightforward and true as anything Tyler, The Creator has offered us and it precisely the opposite of what Jay-Z offers. Drake doesn't duck from his fame or the trappings of success but it doesn't save him either.
3. Jack Daniels – Eric Church – That's an awful neat riff to hang a song on.
4. To Know Him Is To Live Him Napster/Live – Amy Winehouse – The wall of sound replaced by a single acoustic guitar and Amy's tender rasp.
5. Turn It Off – Andrew Rannels – Best song on Book Of Mormons in a random sort of way.
6. The Sound Of Winter – Bush
7. Motivation (with Lil Wayne) – Kelly Rowland – The album is ordinary and so is this song but Kelly's vocal is soulful enough
8. Up All Night – Blink 182 – Is it enough that they still sound like themselves… but with age creeping in and fun bailing out. What's their age again?
9. Go Out And Get It – Black Lips
10. The Actor – Old 97's – Storytellin' shouldn't be quite this obvious.
