1. Please Mr. Post Man – The Beatles – Covering Tamla Motown is always a dodgy business, improving upon the original almost impossible. Here is the rarest of songs, it is more exciting than the Marvelettes original, mostly due to Lennon's tour de force lead vocal.
2. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – U2 – No, I won't claim it is as great as Darlene Love's original. I will, however, claim it is great in its own way and the coda is one of Bono's great moments.
3. You'll Need Those Fingers For Crossing – Los Campesinos – Perhaps their greatest achievement.
4. Tom Sawyer – Rush – Their least sucky album
5. Jamais – Charlotte Gainsbourg – Puts the lie to her being not much more than dady or Becks muse.
6. Pray For Me – Anthony Hamilton
7. Roman In Moscow – Nicki Mnaj – Silly or not, a great rap.
8. Over My Dead Body – Dreak – Great intro.
9. You're Mine – Jeremih – The best of the season.
10. Goodbye England (Covered In SNow) – Laura Marling – Why the nostalgia? The "you were" that starts the song might explain it.
