1. Photovoltaic – Jump Into The Gospel – This is about as glam rock as indie pop is gonna get, the lead singer prints his presence on it, and it is subtler than it first sounds, the keyboards emerging as a major player.
2. Wasted Days – Cloud Nothings – The highlight of the album is a stunner on stage: a long, dangerous, distraction with a coda featuring baldi screaming "I die" over and over again.
3. My God – James Fortune And Fiya – Hip hop production values meet Gospel meet Spiritual and somewhere deep inside itself, it is reworking "My Girl"
4. Good Year For the Roses – Elvis Costello And The Attractions – No, of course he isn't George Jones, but this is a terrifc version of the classic, One of the best versions I've ever had.
5. Terminally Unique – Lamb Of God – The guitar riff that opens this song is just astonishing and the singer is perhaps the best bowls of hell vocalist I have ever heard. After the devil Wears Prada, this is my fave metal band.
6. Ace Of Spades – Just sending my respects in eager anticipation of tonight's gig.
7. Public Enemy # 1 – Megadeth – Dave always hit me as an also ran, but I haven't seen em life. I will be doing so tonight.
8. When You Were Mine – Cyndi Lauper – Notice how she goes "oooooooo" instead of prince's "ooooo, girl".
9. Sidecar – Kathleen Edwards – Still not sure about the metaphor but I am sure about the song and I can't wait to hear it live.
10. Boom Blast – Wiley – I kinda dismissed the album on first listen, but this is as good as English hip hop gets.
