I’ve been worrying on metacritic.com’s approval algorythm on Rock NYC for months now, they never seem quite accurate and while I appreciate that rock critics can be an obtuse lot, still are they really that obtuse?
So I took at a look at the reviews they had for Leonard Cohen’s Live In London, all ten of them, and compared it to the 147 reviews Rotten Apples counted and posted for Disney’s (habloodyha Disney’s) A Chrismas Carol 147 reviews.
In Metacritics defesne, CD reviews are staggered in ways that movie reviews aren’t. Still, metacritics, don’t count blogs, they don’t count newspapers, they don’t include New York Press or Time Out… in other words, Metacritic’s one job is to compile reviews and they don’t really do it.
Five years ago I planned to do the same thing as metacritic.com and gave up on the website when I saw their work. I shoulda done it because these cats have given up.
