Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Doesn't Endorse Rick Santorum… Or Does He?

A few days ago, I was quoting Rick Santorum from his condemnation of heavy metal bands, which ‘use satanic imagery to corrupt the minds of young people’. I still don’t know if this quote is real, but it totally fits the guy.

So I was totally surprised when I read that Santorum just received a campaign endorsement  from Megadeth's Dave Mustaine! Ha! The irony…

In a long interview with Music Radar, Mustaine shared his thoughts about the Republican candidates, and after having criticized Romney’s big money, called Newt Gingerich an ‘angry little man’, and dissected Ron Paul’s ‘insecticide’ components – 98 percent of inert gases, and two percent that will kill you – it was Santorum’s turn:

‘You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House… and that it's Rick Santorum.’

Wow, wow, what is he talking about? What presidential qualities? What else Santorum has shown beside his hatred for gay marriage and his repulsion for contraception? Here are some examples of his views:

‘One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be. [Sex] is supposed to be within marriage. It’s supposed to be for purposes that are yes, conjugal…but also procreative. That’s the perfect way that a sexual union should happen…This is special and it needs to be seen as special.’

You see, in Santorum’s world, you should have sex only if you are married and only if you want to procreate, and so populate this 7 billion-people earth… that’s why he has 1,000 kids himself. He wants to apply his strict religious views to anyone, and this is what he calls freedom, a word he pronounces every single time he opens his dirty mouth.
He also wants to criminalize abortion:

‘I believe that any doctor that performs an abortion, I would advocate that any doctor that performs an abortion, should be criminally charged for doing so.’

And he has talked numerous times against gay rights, this quote being one of the worst ever:

‘If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does. It all comes from, I would argue, this right to privacy that doesn’t exist in my opinion in the United States Constitution. In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.’

What can I say? He is an ignorant douchebag with a gay obsession that may even reveal a secret gay penchant!

‘There are people who were gay and lived the gay lifestyle and aren’t anymore. I don’t know if that’s the similar situation or that’s the case for anyone that’s black. It’s a behavioral issue as opposed to a color of the skin issue, and that’s the diff for serving in the military.’

Noooo, I have to say that this last one is the worst ever,… till the next one, …can you go lower Rick? I am speechless, I can’t understand how this racist homophobic scumbag is still invited anywhere after declaring things like these.

So I wonder what are these presidential qualities Dave Mustaine is talking about, he does not seem to be a crazy guy, Iman saw him in concert recently and said he was quite sane, even supporting the unions!

But Mustaine may have had a second thought after all, since, a little later the same day, Billboard magazine quoted him declaring he had never endorsed Santorum:

‘Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed any presidential candidate. What I did say was that I hope to see a Republican in the White House.  I've seen good qualities in all the candidates but by no means have made my choice yet.  I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daughter, but I never used the word 'endorse.’
I  am sorry but if you read again the first quote ‘I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House… and that it's Rick Santorum.’… this sounded like a real endorsement to me!

One last thing, Mustaine has said he was a born-again Christian, condemning metal bands who sing satanic lyrics! This explains everything and we are back to the start of this conversation.
