Scarlett Johansson, Gershwin and Massive Attack’s 3D have teamed up for a song featured in the soundtrack of the upcoming movie ‘Days of Grace’, directed by Everardo Valerio Gout.
Right away, you will recognize Massive Attack’s semi-paranoid semi-intriguing ambiance, but soon Scarlett’s clear voice, singing the instantaneously recognizable melody of 'Summertime', rises from the darkness, and then follows the mayhem, powerful and dense, like a long fall from a skyscraper, trying to annihilate her voice in vain. My only complain is that it doesn’t last long enough!
This is in fact Johansson’s 2006 cover of the Gershwin’s standard, remixed by 3D and DFA’s Tim Goldsworthy, buried in electronics and distortion, as you have never heard it before.
According to Pitchfork, the soundtrack will also include songs by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, Atticus Ross and Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi among others.
