Thievery Corporation remind me of my friend Bari Wartell, who, in her first year in college, transferred to London for a semester, and returned with all these great bands I knew from reputation if at all at her fingertips. One she was raving about was DC band Thievery Corporation who add Middle Eastern flava to the rub-a-dub heavy on the vibes, and the drums and bass really heavy as opposed to fast and with any remotely bizarre instrument (is that an Oud on “Lebanese Blonde”?”) right in your face..
Thievery Corporation are opening for Massive Attack at the Beacon October 21s and October 22nd. I’m going on the Friday.
