Gwar is a bunch of old men in silly costumes. A metal band with more schtick than should be legal but its endearing in a way. The sheer consistency of weirdness is admirable. Despite the loss of member, Flattus Maximus (Cory Smoot), the band has remained strong as only season vets can do.
They’re most known for their Halloween runs but its not like the guys sit on the back porch until the the leaves change, they were out this summer with Hatebreed and lets not forget their other (KISS-like!) ventures into merchandise. Gwar-B-Que sauce anyone? Add to that the Gwar beer and you have a one band party.
The bands ‘Madness At The Core of Time” tour includes White Chapel, Iron Reagan, and Band of Orcs.
“Our loyal slaves have been laboring ceaselessly to create the ultimate Gwar show, and for this they have received nothing but abuse and torment,” Oderus Urungus said. “I know our legions of loyal fans will be delighted to experience a whole new cast of ridiculous characters, all of whom shall meet exceedingly messy ends to the soundtrack of slaughter that our new album shall provide. Get ready world … Gwar is coming!”
Interestingly enough their tour concentrates more on the West Coast and mid West proving that the North East is too cool for them. Here’s our dates
Nov. 14 – Clifton Park, N.Y., Upstate Concert Hall
Nov. 15 – Worcester, Mass., The Palladium
