After two excellent EPs, the LA band Lord Huron has announced a debut full-length album, ‘Lonesome Dreams', set to be released on October 9, on the independent label IAMSOUND Records. You can get a short preview of the first single, ‘Time To Run’, in the video below.
I have seen them a few times, and have abundantly listened to their two previous EPs ‘Into the Sun’ and ‘Mighty’, after falling under the charm of their gorgeous soundscapes that are never too far away from tropical waters and Afro-Caribbean skies. I know they got a lot of comparisons with Fleet Foxes, and I can see why, but for me, they are working in a parallel universe, a more fierce, wild and dynamic universe, and actually richer and more fascinating. That’s why it is way too simple to call Ben Schneider’ musical and visual project folky.
To support the release of their album, Lord Huron and his Mighty Band (Ben Schneider plus his collaborators, Mark Barry on percussion and vocals, Miguel Briseno on bass and percussion, Brett Farkas on guitar and vocals and Tom Renaud on guitar and vocals) will embark on a US tour, which will kick off in Los Angeles in late August and will run through October.
