Looking Back and Looking Ahead: Warped Tour

Once the snow is officially melted and there is grass on the ground there really is nothing more to think about then prepping for Warped Tour. Starting next month the 'rock and roll summer camp' will travel across the country leaving sweat blood tears smiles shoes and a few teeth in its wake.

I have been a loyal Warped Follower for years now.  Each time from a different vantage point.  The first year it was pouring endlessly, The venue so far spaced out that getting from stage to stage was like trudging through a tropical rain forest.  It was fun to watch people falling over, and I saw some of the most amazing bands.

Future years brought bruising and burning but I always left armed with knowledge from one of the many caravan tents set up buy non profits.  I became a strong supporter of Music Saves Lives because of Warped.  I have supported PETA and Invisible Children, in a single tour people are entertained and educated.  What an amazing event.

Last year was the first time I was able to view it as 'press' from that backstage vantage I was able to witness one the most well organized events from a business viewpoint.  A well planned timed and executed exercise in getting performers where they need to be safely on time and full of life.  I saw the precision of the staff who manned the artist interviews.  Out of the 30+ performers there were TWO who missed their interview slot.  Those odds are nothing more than a tribute to the management of Warped Tour as a business.

Go ahead and think its just a bunch of teenage assholes moshing and drinking and fighting.  I'm here to tell you this is an event not to be missed.  I hope I can off you a slight glimpse into the excitement Warped Tour offers.

This year seeing rocknyc faves like Black Veil Brides and A Day To Remember with massive audiences will be fantastic.  I'm looking forward to seeing Asking Alexandria, Enter Shakari (who blew me away last year) and Family Force Five (who I have not seen in YEARS).  More than that I wonder who I will discover this year.

Last years great find is pictured above.  From New York City, The Casualties.  Right there this picture alone sums up the vibrancy of Warped Tour.

Cant wait.
