Tim Presley aka White Fence, a one-man band who plays with a full band live (I have seen him once), is well-known for his collaboration with super prolific Ty Segall on the ‘Hair’ LP last year, but he was also in the indie band Darker My Love, in the hardcore band The Nerve Agents, and only last year, he managed to launch a label ‘Birth Records’ and release ‘Family Perfume Vol.1’. So you would think he’d be resting by now, but not at all: he has just released a new song called ‘Pink Gorilla’, the first taste of his upcoming album ‘Cyclops Reap’!
It’s all vintage psychedelia, filled with multicolor distorted visions during an imaginary and vivid acid trip among layered guitars,… one sure thing, this fuzz-fantasy will not silence all these Syd Barett comparisons.
But Presley released a very weird message about his album:
'I have cyclops vision now. But I'm not a giant. I changed my name and body only, and stabbed my social nous in the right ear. I still read fear but there are no police this year. I can repeat the same dream. I can let birds talk to me. I'm in jail. I have love and a whistle. I lay where the lotus lay and then spring the frozen flowers on any giving day. I apologize to those put in the trees, but I was gathering the Cyclops reap.'
I don’t take drugs but I would make an exception, I want to have what he is having, that sounds really interesting!
