Listen To A Live Recording Of A New Fucked Up Song

A few days ago, Fucked Up ‘s Damian Abraham tweeted about the live recording of a new Fucked Up song which was posted on this blog:

‘Hey! Wanna here a new Fucked Up song (albeit a live, embryonic) version from the next record?'

The band played this song, and a few other new ones, at the Great Hall in Toronto on February 8th, during one of their ‘Long Winter’ nights. The series of shows was ‘a monthly night of immersive and interactive music, installations, visual art, readings, food, and dance to help Toronto get through our long and cold winter’, and featured artists, lecturers, dancers, videographers, and other bands.

Contrarily to some artists who can’t stand even a single picture to be taken during a show, the band doesn’t have any problem with a recording,… of a new song. The band even says they will put another new song up the next day,… Damian Abraham and Jack White must be coming from two different planets.

The song, which doesn't have any title yet, is truly what you expect from Fucked Up: some explosive, layered guitars building momentum, and Abraham’s raucous voice, sounding, as usual, like a beast hurling his guts out. The music is more than ever about loud melodic walls that want to empower you, and Abraham’s aggressive visceral vocals are probably what can still attach them to hardcore.

This new song will probably be on Fucked Up’s follow-up to their acclaimed 2011 ’David Comes to Life’.
