Life Is Good Festival Canton, MA

We have all seen the silly smiling logo and the tag line 'Life Is Good" on everything from coffee cups to t-shirts and its genius. Its a feel good product with a cute slogan. It would be nice if more people believed it but none the less, the company has some soaring profits.

Yet "Life is Good" is giving back with the Life is Good Music Festival. Their site explains the mission:

The Life is good Festival is a one-of-a-kind fundraiser held at Prowse Farm in Canton, MA. This two-day celebration of music and optimism, features three stages of nationally known musical talent, hands-on games, interactive arts activities, and the "Good Kids" zone — home to the top acts in kids entertainment. 100% of the funds you raise and profits from the event will go towards the Life is good Playmakers, helping kids overcome poverty, violence and illness.

The goal of the weekend is to create a community of fundraisers. Festival-goers who raise funds for the Life is good Playmakers will be rewarded with exclusive backstage hospitality, preferred concert viewing, artist meet and greets and other prizes. These fundraisers are called VGP’s – Very Good People – and have a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience, as well as the satisfaction that comes naturally by simply being a very good person.

Life is good has once again teamed up with Superfly, acclaimed producers of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Outside Lands, to assure an amazing festival experience.

100% of the funds raised goes to the charity. That's nearly unheard of although Life Is Good Playmakers is a offshoot of LIG just the same. This do-good Woodstock features band from Sara Bareilles to Dave Mathews and hold on to your lunchbox… The Kidz Bop Kidz. I am not kidding that is one act I would want to see, they must be like Menudo and toss out members when they hit a certain age.

I really would love to be cynical about this but I cant.  Upon review of the website I discovered that 'Playmakers' reelly is a great organization that helps thousands of kids.  There are fabulous programs being funded here.

The concept is even cool.  Buy a ticket ($120.00 for two days- not bad) and offer perks if you fundraise.  You can earn meet and greets and fine dining on site just by putting forth some effort in raising cash for the cause.  Brilliant.  I would absolutely go if the music was more my speed but I can honestly say I will be cutting a check to the foundation- its that impressive.

If you are a fan of bands such as Spearhead or The Daps go go get your hippie on!  If not, really explore the good that Playmakers does.  You'll be a fan.  The Festial is fast approaching September 22-23, 2012.
