Lana Del Rey Covers Nirvana, Courtney Love Reacts

So Lana Del Rey covered Nirvana’s ‘Heart Shaped Box’ during a show at the Enmore Theater in Sydney on July 26, because she had a serious crush on Cobain at 11, sort of, as she explained to Sirius FM:

‘When I was 11, I saw Kurt Cobain singing 'Heart-Shaped Box' on MTV and it really stopped me dead in my tracks. I thought he was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. Even at a young age, I really related to his sadness.’

‘I never revisited his music again until I was about 17 or 18, and then when I did, it still meant just as much to me then. It's continued to be my primary inspiration – in terms of not wanting to compromise lyrically or sonically.’

‘I really related to the sadness’? my primary inspiration’?…. You can watch her performance below, I thought she mellowed down the song considerably and put a little of glamour with her sexy moan that was not intended in the song, Nirvana’s fans may jump to the ceiling, but it is beyond the point of the post.

Of course, every time you touch anything related to Nirvana, the Hole woman is opening her big mouth, and this is what Courtney Love tweeted to Lana:

‘You do know the song is about my Vagina right? 'Throw down your umbilical noose so i can climb right back,' umm… On top of which some of the lyrics about my vagina I contributed. So umm next time you sing it, think about my vagina will you?’

Always elegant, stylish and forever obsessed by her own Muse potential, err when you think about it, this gives a total new meaning to the lyrics, ‘I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap/I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black’.
