Lady Gaga Sues for her Name

Excite Worldwide, a cosmetic company is being sued by Lady Gaga for obtaining a trademark for the name “Lady Gaga” and “Lady Gaga LG” to be branded on makeup and other accessories.

The US Patent and Trademark office has already approved the application she will have to sue to have that revoked.  Gaga  claims to have already prepared trademarks surrounding her name and that Excite Worldwide has made it more difficult to get  approved.  Excite Worldwide simply got to the applications office first- and won.

I attempted to find out more about Excite Worldwide, but interestingly enough their website has been disabled.  All public business sites show certificate errors and there is no other information about this company pre Lady Gaga.  So either this company has never done a thing but grab a stars name or it is pretty damn obscure.  Thirty seven pages in to Google search and theres a big fat nothing- other than the lawsuit.  How about this, Google images doesn't even bring up a company logo… something smells fishy.

Hundreds of blogs and news sources going on and on about this.. but not one of them asking WHO THE HECK IS EXCITE WORLDWIDE?!?

Anyway,
I am surprised her management hadn’t already done this upon her rise to fame- she’s a commodity- now owned by a potentially fictitious lipstick company.  Her entire niche is glam- and she never trademarked her moniker?

Stay tuned this could get funnier than the ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ rants she went on. I wonder what she will wear to court…
