Oh no, after Jay Z (the ‘Picasso Baby’ video) now it’s Lady Gaga’s turn to milk the performing artist Marina Abramovic? Why is this woman hot in the music world so suddenly? Marina Abramovic is this artist who sits for months in a NYC museum and lets people stare at her,… I saw a documentary about her, ‘The artist is present’ and I thought it was the most pompous thing ever,… may be this is art, and may be I am too insensitive to get it, but she was taking herself way too seriously for my taste.
A new video shows Lady Gaga stopping by the Marina Abramovic Institute (yes, such a thing exists) and doing all kind of nonsense ‘exercises’ consisting into laying on the floor in white clothes and yelling/chanting, wearing a horn mask on your eyes, hanging in the woods totally naked or surrounding yourself with giant crystals? This is described as ‘series of exercises designed to heighten participants’ awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment,’ and this looks like a lot of new age bullshit to me,… just watch the video below.
Lady Gaga actually spent two months at Anramovic’s home/institute, doing a sort of monastic retreat and this is what the famous performing artist had to say about the pop diva:
‘She wanted to take her clothes off to be one with nature. At first I thought it was really crazy because it’s [the forest] full of mosquitoes and ticks. That was her decision. It was up to her how she wanted to experience nature’.
‘She was so humble. She knew my work and respected my work and she wanted to learn.’
‘From the moment she woke up, even drinking water was an exercise, the way she uses almond oil in her hair. Everything was so restricted and minimal, almost monastic, to get to the kind of simplicity.’
During the retreat, Gaga spent three hours blindfolded in the forest, and didn’t use any computer, cell phone or other modern technology, but spent a lot of time alone with minimal food… At least, Gaga has recovered her top-shape! But there’s nothing really new there, Tibetan monks do the same thing, but I am not sure they try to raise money on Kickstarter! Because all this is actually part of Abramovic’s Kickstarter campaign which has a $600,000 goal and has raised $267,000 so far! Why do people who pretend to need so little actually need so much money? It is beyond my comprehension!
