Lady Antebellum Radio City Music Hall Friday, May 4, 2012

Went to see Lady Antebellum on Friday May 4 at Radio City Music Hall! Love them ever since I saw them at Joe’s Pub right before their first album came out.

The opening bands were Thompson Square and Darius Rucker. Darius Rucker was good and got the crowd going. The crowd was really crazy when he played a song by Hootie and the Blowfish!!! For his last song he said that the song was pure indulgence for him. He played Purple Rain!! Odd choice but fun.

Lady Antebellum finally came on around 9:30pm and really was fun. Weird to see them on a HUGE stage when just a few years ago they were on the stage at Joe’s Pub! They were a lot of fun but it felt very staged. That they moved from place to place on cue. The sound in Radio City is great but the sound was loud. When they started to sing "Just a Kiss", Hilary sounded a bit odd and it could have been the way she was miked. They sang "American Honey" stripped down and it sounded cool. They brought Thompson Square and Darius Rucker back out and sang together.

It was very cool! They did  1 encore song and were done. It definitely felt a bit staged and scripted but all in all they are a great band!
