What more could LA want? A nice arena league football team. Arena football is as pathetic as the West Coast so its perfectly fitting. For the record I have never been a fan of California and although some worship its grounds I have successfully avoided that left side of the country for almost 30 years and I am damn proud of it.
KISS the band that wont go away is a wonderful addition to the faux cool terrain by creating and owning this new team Arena football is just what it sounds like- indoor football, smaller field, less demanding- less popular. The nerdy little brother of the NFL.
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley both in their 60s still smear on the greasepaint and cod pieces to rock out and well they both love the mighty buck. I have written a ton about their numerous financial adventures and for the first time I think I understand it- they’re marketing genius! Hell if you can milk your career that long and still market shit like KISS backpacks you’re fucking legend. Although I may not rock out at your shows I think KISS could be the quintessential America band if not simply the perfect Americans.
Stanley promoted the team, saying ‘Season tickets are now on sale for what we know will be some of the most action-packed games ever played at the Honda Center. Arena Football is played at a fast and furious pace and making season tickets available now for the budget-friendly price of $99 gives a whole new meaning to bang for the buck.’
Simmons added ‘As a fast-paced, high-action band this partnership with the AFL was an obvious fit for us. With Arena Football, you are much closer to the action ‘ sitting in the front row is like putting a folding chair on the hash mark of an NFL game ‘ and it’s one of the only sports where you can experience this level of intensity. Attending an LA KISS game in 2014 will be similar to a live KISS show, with thrilling, heart pounding action.’
The truth is like most Arena teams you wont hear jack about them- they’ll be Groupon offerings weekly and the local Boyscout Troops will use it as a field trip opportunity. But hey- who knows?
