This story is very weird but nothing surprises me anymore when it involves Kanye West… Since Kanye is always talking to someone — I actually think it is his profession, being a talker — there is constantly some new material. In an interview with The Breakfast Club radio show, Kanye said he is working on a video game, and a very weird one:
‘So right now I’m working on a video game for ‘Only One.’ The idea is, it’s my mother going through the gates of heaven and you have to bring her to the highest gates of heaven by holding her to the light. We’ve been working on it for like six months.’
‘Only One’? Like the song with Macca? Right there, I smell some bullshit… Kanye West is a video game designer? Does he even know a computer language or by designing does he mean that he just gave a vague idea to people who are going to actually design the game? But let’s go back to the theme of the game,… his mother died in 2007 after having plastic surgery (she had a pre-existing coronary artery condition), and he wants to make a video game of the tragedy?
I don’t know how to start with this weirdo’s idea, first, people make good money from video games, so wouldn’t this an exploitation of his mother’s death? Then what kind of game is this? He is talking about it as if this was actually helping his mother. I am no expert in video games but there are usually many outcomes, so what happens when you don’t win? Does his mother go… to the purgatory? The inferno? How many chances do we have? Does Kanye intervene at one point? Or Yeezus? Is Beyonce involved too? How many levels for the game?
It is insane as usual, and this is the guy who receives accolades everywhere? I guess Kanye’s mind is very dispersed, music, fashion, video games, what’s next? I forgot, Kanye is a genius of course. But with ideas as childish as this one, despite what everyone says, I have more and more difficulties to buy Kanye as a believable creative genius.
