At this point, Kanye West could say, ‘tomorrow I will land on Mars’ and people would take him seriously. Any interview that this clown is giving – yes, just like Kanye I have opinions – is reprinted and dissected in every major publication as if he was the new messiah. Oh I forgot, he proclaimed himself Yeezus so why not?
Everyone has been talking at length about Kanye’s multiple post-Grammys interviews and this is the gift that can’t stop giving. Every time Kanye opens his mouth, we reach another layer of Kanye’s mind and this is an endless source of entertainment. But why do people respect anything of what he says? This is a guy who admits to never read a book, to be God’s vessel despite contradicting himself at any occasion, so why giving him so much credit? is this a sign of the apocalypse?
Take the ‘illuminative’ interview (according to Rolling Stone) he gave to the always-relevant Ryan Seacrest a few days ago. Kanye declared that the Grammys were a joke, but then he takes them seriously enough to jump on stage every time someone else than Beyonce wins… so where is the Kanye’s logic?
He admitted that interrupting Beck was kind of a joke, then he explained in his usual convoluted way how Beck or the Grammys should ‘respect artistry’?? Even with more Kanye-style explanation, I still don’t understand his broken reasoning… ‘I think it came off the wrong way, and that was a mis-wording on my part because obviously Beck is one of the most respected artists and respects artistry’…. ‘but I felt that even though the Grammys sometimes gives awards to people who you wouldn’t think should win in the category’… and he thinks that the Grammys should ‘fix the voting system to be more in accord with the popular votes, because the popularity is what is needed to sell commercials.’ So if I follow Kanye’s cloudy train of thoughts, the Grammys didn’t respect the artistry, but they gave an award to a guy who is an artist, so actually they did respect artistry but the Grammys didn’t go for the popularity vote?? Make your mind Kanye! Or did you mean that artistry equals popularity and selling commercials? He should have gone with this last idea from the beginning, an artist is someone ‘who sell advertising for them’, as he says later in the conversation. Should I say the evidence there? Art has nothing to do with popularity, this is an obvious statement but so foreign to someone like Kanye West.
How can anyone not see through him? Money, popularity, success, celebrity level are the only things which matter for Kanye, he got married with Kim Kardashian for this unique reason. Kanye mixes artistry with fame that he even thanks big corporations. During the Grammys weekend he said ‘Y’all should thank Nike because they made me make these songs right here’… just before promoting his over-priced ugly shoes… What a mess this guy is. But I have only two explanations to explain the non-stop Kanye covering by the media: first, the same thing that the guy idolizes himself, money and popularity — because the guy has sold a lot of records everyone listens when he opens his mouth, which is all the time – second, he is pure entertainment, this is what he has become. He thinks he channels John Lennon when he sings with Macca, but when Lennon said he was more popular than Jesus, the most blasphemous thing ever, Kanye, despite all his head-scratching rants, just wants to be Jesus.
