Kanye West has already received enough attention by now, with a new album and a new baby leaking in the same week, so what else does he want? He never gets enough it seems as on Friday night, he gave to a celebrity attendance a preview of his new project, a short film inspired by Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel ‘American Psycho’ – and mostly the Christian Bale movie made in 2000.
So wait, Jesus and America Psycho? I am so confused! Kanye you have to pick one, the bright or the dark side, the crucified or the ax-murderer, but I totally see how Kanye could relate to the narcissistic Patrick Bateman.
The clip, projected on the wall outside of Milk Studios, isn’t very clear and it’s difficult to make sense of the dialogue but the scene looks exactly similar to that in the movie starring Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, and Jared Leto except that you get two Kardashian buddies Jonathan Cheban and Scott Disick in the same role.
So is it another way for Kanye West to push the envelope? However, he has to be aware that the novel destroyed the 80s music – I have heard that Phil Collins never forgave Ellis – but West’s new ‘Yeezus’ is probably lyrically strong enough to stand up next to the bloody-gory violence of the novel.
Interestingly, Justin Bieber and Tyler the Creator were in the attendance. Watch the clip via Rap-Up:
