I live in Connecticut. Family in Newtown. There ya go- it couldn't hit closer to home that mass murder that went down in the middle of the 'itsy bitsy spider' We are bombarded with well wishes and prayers and roadside memorials and trinkets and gobs and gobs of good intentions in the form of rubbish.
We live amongst murderers. Killers in cold blood will pop you and take your ass out no questions asked, no rational explanation. We kill because we can and when you think you're safe you're wrong Theres my speech. Mankind is not kind. Guns are weapons to kill. Simple really. I am glad I don't own a gun, if I did there is no telling how many nail techs, bad drivers, annoying shopkeepers or teenagers singing along to bands would no longer be with us. Fury is pretty powerful. Mental illness is the reason for these tragedies- not guns. I know that I cannot own one. Just as I know I cannot drink with a fear of alcoholism- I have the mental capacity to safeguard myself and the world. Some don't have that filter- that's the problem. Getting help to them.
But hey its easier to peg it on an inanimate object than to admit its a human condition. With that we now have the "Sandy Hook Promise". being supported by celebs and regular Joes. Justin Bieber is on board. Thousands of people signed up just cuz this guy suggested it. What a pathetic mess. Seriously, how many people sign a petition or promise and actually live up to the cause? Its signing a slip of paper (or typing an electronic name)- its not how you live.
How about we stop following like sheep. Instead we watch out for our fellow man. If someone is acting irrationally actually do something to help them or find them help? We are sucha pathetic and self serving society. I'm not signing or promising shit- I'm going to make actions speak louder than public service announcements.
Celebrities are joining Newtown residents in making the “Sandy Hook Promise” to do all they can to support “common-sense solutions” to make communities and this country safer. Go do something and I don't mean leave crap on the road.
