Justice for Jennifer Chiba

A couple of years ago I asked Alyson Camus to write a post giving the benefit of the doubt to Jennifer Chiba in every way possible. I wanted to write upon the presumption that Chiba was innocent of any wrong doing.

And she did.

And to be honest, I would assume that whatever Chiba is or isn’t guilty of, she is not guilty of murder. I’d guess. I’d assume. Being difficult, or nasty, or a drug pusher, or a thief or whatever you might or might not be, is not proof at all that you stabbed somebody in the stomach.

Over the years, rock nyc’s core convictions has remained that we don’t know what really happened that day and as long as Elliott Smith’s cause of death is left in legal limbo,we are not going to know what happened to him.Truth is justice, revenge on Chiba is not justice.

Justice For Elliott Smith, the Facebook page I started and which Alyson manages, is about Justice for Jennifer Chiba as well. If everything Alyson has dug up about Smith, Chiba and the people surrounding the case is 100% accurate, it still does not constitute murder.

And though Alyson has been in closer contact –vastly closer contact than Schultz has been, with very close family members, even in those discussions, nobody has mentioned murder.

Then what?

I don’t know what, I do know Chiba has lied about that day, simply because her own testimony is contradictory. So what happened?

If Chiba wants justice for herself it is easily done. Go to a police station and take a lie detector test and clear her name. That’s all she has to do. Will some bad stuff come out, sure. We have published everything we know for legal reasons. But the truth is better than spending her life with a cloud over her head while people like Schultz and Reyes and Gowing, fail to perform their due diligence in reporting Smith’s death, and arrogant nitwits have the audacity to call Alyson a lunatic on Amazon and indolent pop stars like Rhett Miller dither and dodder and don’t bother to do one ounce of research before professing that clearly flawed (Schultz spoke to none of Smith’s family –we have that in writing) research is the truth and clapping for  the perpetrator of yet another fraud to the memory of Smith..

If Chiba wants justice it is easily done and easily provided. She mistakes the truth for a photo op and sucking up to would be scholars the same as facing the police.
