Justice Departing Taking A look At A Rotten Apple by Iman Lababedi

According to the New York Times, the Justice Department is looking into the business practises of Apples digital music department. Apparently, Apple have been strong arming the record companies into not giving exclusive deals with their competitors.

This is illegal of course but business is still business and it is hardly the most shocking story about Itunes I have ever heard.

But I must admit I got the feeling these are bad guys on phole other levels.

Isn’t it a bit dodgy, the whole way they raised their rates last year And now you can find prices between a buck and a buck thirty ON THE SAME ALBUM.

It seems they have the technology to raise prices by hits.

So look at it this way: if you like a song, Apple are first levelling out the prices and availability and then when a song catches on they are jumping you on the price as well.

It all kinda, well, it kinda seems to be a consumer rip off of humongous proportions. It is using technology to pick your pocket and it is forcing a 30% hike on popular songs and there is no real way round it.
