The American Idol season finale was eventful to say the least. With performances by Alice Cooper, The Bee Gees, Christina Aguilara, Alanis Morsette, Carrie Underwood, along with Janet Jackson(who looks so much like her brother they could be identical twins). Were all those guys 1 band called Chicago? Last but not least, Michael McDonald, Hall and Oaks, and Bret Michael’s were on too (wasn’t he in the hospital?). These performances certainly filled up the two-hour season finale, and as I was thinking that there was no way on earth that the show was going to end at 10. With fillers of old contestants basically wanted them to just get to the winner already, even my patience was getting thin.
And what was Abdul talking about? A shameful tribute to Simon’s departure. A rather confusing speech. It was so awkward and unusual that it was difficult to sit through. Helen asked “was she drunk or something?” She made the audience squirm but I loved her dress.
When I heard that Lee had won, I yelped at the shock. With a high-pitched “NO WAY!” and Helen’s “Ooo now there’s a shocker” the Idol season was over. Thank God, peace in our house again.
