Juliana Hatfield On daytrotter.com: butterflies and songs are free

The daytrotter.com session, four songs recorded at their studio and available for free, by Juliana Hatfield is a must own.

Juliana lends herself to acoustic versions of a song and it is just acoustic and voice here, no frills, no nonses. And pretty damn good. The session dates from May 2009 but her newbie “Butterflies” a very pretty and fragile number hasn’t seen the light of day yet and it’s better than the pretty good any way How To Walk Away songs “So Alone” and “Law Of Nature”  ”

And as for her cover of the Stones “It’s Only Rock N Roll” -all I can say is brilliance. She should send it to Mick or at least add it to the upcoming acoustic album whenever that one arrives. This is what Hatfield had to say about it: “Most people, when they think of this song, think of the chorus, and Mick Jagger’s aggressive presentation: “I know it’s only rock and roll but I like it like it yes I do!” but I think the lyrics in the verses are really touching and poignant, and so I do this pretty and quiet version of the song to emphasize the sadness and longing which are kind of disguised in the Stones’ recorded version.” Everyone’s a rock critic.
