John Carpenter, the Los Angeles band who shares a moniker with that creepy movie director, has recently posted two new songs on their bandcamp page, under the name ‘Western Canon’ tracks.
‘Slowly to the Shadows’ is precisely a little on the creepy-spooky side, slowly expanding its dark sound for 4 minutes and half with Carpenter’s baritone vocals backed up by J. Explosive’s sexy drumbeats. I always find their music quite difficult to describe, but this track is mysterious or sinister enough to be a film noir soundtrack.
The second track ‘Valse/Vocalise’ is a short exercise in surf guitar with a retro-60s-movies dimension.
