Joe's Pub And Madison Square Garden Gone For The Summer

Now is the summer of our discontent…?

In 1980, I saw my first concert at Madison Square Garden. David Bowie on his "Scary Monsters And Super Creeps" tour. I had nosebleeders but I wandered all the way to the 100s. Damned good concert as well.

In 2009, I went to see Bob Mould at Joe's Pub and wrote my first review for rock nyc for it.

And both rooms are closed for the summer. Renovations -they claim. I think it is just to piss me off.

Agreed, Joe's Pub isn't the Bottom Line and MSG has crap acoustics, the Bottom Line is no more and MSG is literally two blocks from where I work and any way, tis the season to perform at MSG. Where is Soundgarden? Where was Sade? How about Adele (well, maybe not Adele)? Instead I am expected to hike to meadowlands for Britney and U2 (well, maybe not U2).

As for Joe's Pub. There is no place that you can get closer to the stage except Hiro and you have to stand at Hiro's.

Guess it's gonna be a cold, lonely Summer…
