A “beautiful, secret location in the middle of the Somerset countryside” in England will host “The Strummer Of Love” festival in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of Joe’s death. Taking place August 17-19 the festival is a labor of love with Sturmmerville, the charity set up in Joes honor and The Joe Strummer New Music Foundation.
Strummer was an activist and remains a powerful and inspirational force whose art, convictions and energy spans the decades and inspires all. Proceeds from the festival will go towards Joes passions. The line up will comprise of friends and fans of Joe's. The internationally renowned artists will be joined by a host of rising stars, many of them supported by the work of Strummerville.
That’s pretty cool stuff but the real Strummification is the sales plan.
“Strummer of Love will be the only major UK festival to handle its own ticket sales, bypassing the typically hefty booking fees associated with festivals. Strummerville will also have a forum for re-sale of tickets so that they won't be on sale via so-called 'fan-to-fan' websites.”
On top of the music there will be stalls selling ethically sourced fair trade food and outlets highlighting a range of arts, crafts, Strummer memorabilia, alternative therapies, healing and community activism. I would love to be there!

Another cool factor? The first 1001 tickets are being sold at Euro 101, in honor of Joes first band name.
