What? After making so much noise about his Tidal streaming service, TechTimes is reporting that he is reporting he is planning an exit strategy? Is it a rumor or is the rapper giving up? Wow that would be Jay Z’s first failure? Actually with his Made in America festival cancelled downtown LA this year, it would be his second failure!
He launched his service in March with a lot of publicity and fanfare around and a slew of celebrity partners, including his wife Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Jack White, Madonna, Daft Punk, Arcade Fire, Chris Martin, deadmau5 and Drake.
Tidal soon failed to reach everyone’s expectation, and CEO Peter Tonstad was fired after just 3 months and other people have left since…. According to Tech Times, ‘Jay Z reportedly hasn’t yet paid the licensing fees to the copyright holders of much of Tidal’s music, and the company was just hit with a huge $50 million lawsuit in July, when Cash Money claimed Tidal’s exclusive premiere of Lil Wayne’s new album “Free Weezy” was an illegal copyright infringement.’
Nobody among the artists is commenting and I wonder what they will say when the reality jumps at their face… imagine Jay Z and Beyonce forced to admit they have failed? I guess that’s why they are very silent, they are preparing a strategy to not look too bad.
