What's a boy to do when he can't out hip himself? Open an indie record company, yup yup.. good thinking. Then what do you to get more press? Well you can go on TV, you can marry and divorce, you can gather a crew of cool cats and sing at secret gigs, and most of all you can reissue the stuff that got you famous in the first place.
Well done Jack White! Third Man Records Vault Series will offer a boatload of rarities and oddities just for subscribing. Ahh, the infamous ‘sign up’, is just a way to see who's paying attention.
For this offering Third Man offers you'll get the third, White Stripe triple-album Singles Collection, on colored vinyl with a fold-out poster that lines up with previous entries!! Its like collecting Wacky Packages or Bazooka! Theres a puzzle!! You'll also get a light-sensitive color-changing tee-shirt of the Third Man Records logo. I cant even make this stuff up.
But what's the real grabber? 7-inch record of two White Stripes songs ' 'Dead Leaves' and 'Let's Build A Home' ' recorded during the sessions for their self-titled debut in 1999. This version is reported as much different than the one that ended up on the album.
Worth the sign up? You decide.
