We live strange times, times when a super star such as Jack White dumps a Disney movie and makes an apparition into the TV sketch comedy Portlandia. Of course both events are totally unrelated, they just happened a few days apart.
If you can remember the news from months ago, Jack White was supposed to score the Disney movie, ‘The Lone Ranger’, but news broke that the musician was way to busy to spend any time with Johnny Depp and his new Navajo’s roots,… too bad, Depp could have helped at the guitar, he does this a lot as everyone knows.
Instead, White made an apparition in Portlandia, but when I say apparition this is actually the correct term, he is the Deus ex indie machina here, saving the situation, however being just White, without even saying a word or doing anything.
In ‘Winter in Portlandia’, a music-equipment-obsessed Fred Armisen gives a tour of his new studio to a Jerry Garcia-looking dude, using this 'they-used-it-on-Pet-Sounds' catch-phrase, that only a sweater guy like him could repeat a million times!
But there is a problem, he has to attract that ‘one important artist’, otherwise what is the point of this beauty? Then arrives Jack White like a Christmas angel falling from the sky,…. Aaahh, he even cracks a smile.
