ITunes And The Disappearing Sinead O'Connor Album

Last week Sinead O'Connor released her first album in five years. One of the biggest stars of the 1980s and one of the most beloved singers in the world. And it was a goodie and got lots of press.

But you wouldn't know it at Itunes.

Itunes didn't mention the new Sinead album, not on their front, and OK, whatever, but not even on their New releases page. What the hell is that about? Look at Itunes as the equivalent of a retail outlet like Tower Records were. Go in to Tower on a Tuesday morning and there are single bins filled with new releases put their by distributors who paid Tower for product placement. And then against the wall they would place alphabetically every new release in stock.

Itunes should do this. Certainly they have many, many more new releases, but they should absolutely list them somewhere. And if it is a major release like Sinead, why wouldn't they, if not on the slideshow, certainly on new releases.

My bet? She didn't pay them

Keep that in mind next time you pray to the rotting memory of Jobs.
