Alyson writes: So Chanel’s fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld called Adele a ‘little too fat’? Well no wonder, the guy is used to dress up skin-and-bones coat hangers, so the singer must have appeared like some huge abnormality for him. This is what he said:
‘The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice’.
Lagerfeld, who now looks like a crypt keeper or an old vampire, hasn’t always had this thin figure, as he lost himself 30 kg about ten years ago, so you would think he would think twice before speaking like this about others’ weight.
The comment did not stay unnoticed of course, and a little later, the guy realized he had to apologize, and this is what he said to the Metro newspaper:
‘I'd like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought…She is my favorite singer and I am a great admirer of her’.
Meanwhile Adele received the insult pretty well, and she responded to him in an interview for People magazine :
‘I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that’
‘I'd lose weight if I was an actress and had to play a role where you're supposed to be 40 pounds lighter, but weight has nothing to do with my career.’
‘I haven't felt insecure about my figure. I wasn't brought up like that’
Good for her, may be she speaks the truth, but if you see her 10 years later and 20 pounds lighter, we should remind her about what she just said.
Iman adds: Adele isn't a ten year old girl going through puppy fat and puberty. She is a, ahem, fully grown woman and she could do with losing some weight. Would I like her any better if she did? Nope. Bui for fucks sake, fuck sensitive fat people. Maybe she souldn't loose all those guys of she put the ding dongs and picked up the ding dong every now and then.
