Usher. What the hell sort of tag is that? Well that's really his first name Usher Terry Raymond IV, is a 33 year old artist that raced to the forefront with his song "Nice and Slow". That was a long time ago. Since then he has gained a reputation as one of the best performers and a insanely good dancer.
With a perpetual smile and really not enough scandal Usher is still a chart ruler. Also you cant deny that fun collaboration with Pitbull, see it's been awhile since I mentioned Mr 305 so I grabbed the opportunity.
The second to the last episode of SNL is upon us, poor Usher is the opening act in a sense to the big giant Mick Jagger finale next week. Personally, I would take Usher over Jagger…yeah. Will Ferrell hosting is a dream come true in a nightmare of a season. I have always loved his comedic style but I wonder if the show will kill his mojo now?
Anyway this is music and here's what it is….
The stage is so crowded there really isn't much room for usher to dance anyway. The keyboardist is a guitarist and two dudes in MC Hammer shorts are sorta wasting room. But regardless, if I hear "oo baby baby" one more time in this song I will literally scream. Oh wait, thats the title of this mundane number. But this is straight up dance music with no distraction. I was really looking for something more Kanye dynamic, this is just a dude singin a tune with his boys.
Iman and I agree that this is about as ordinary as Usher can get. A 'by the numbers' agit pop…but he sure can dance. Is this the same guy who did "DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again" and 'OMG', in the past year? Both of those songs wipe the floor with this one.
