Mumford and Son brought their washboard rock to the States with the hit 'Little Lion Man". Unimpressed until their live show at The Secret Policemans Ball, Iman has become somewhat of a fan. I cant seem to shake the knee slap folk rock sound but I teeter on the fence. Given the right circumstance I can actually appreciate their work.
Part of the hipster revolution these scruffy boys have gathered up followers and with jugs and banjos moved rock into a twangy bluegrassy rock mash up that is sorta nifty.
Saturday Night Live is an atrocity.and its sad to watch. I find moments of hope only to be dashed and destroyed as the show progresses. There are times it takes every bit of loyalty to get to the first song for the musical guest. I do this weekly more for the benefit of the site than for any sort of interest. But I want to remain courant and if SNL is indication of our current cool kid society than holy hell we are doomed. Anyone remember Elvis Costello, or The Clash, The Specials or Bowie on SNL? Are there any bands even close to that cool? Yeah no.
So hop on on the porch git yer moonshine out and lets see if Mumford and Son can impress.
Well I gotta say it- I liked it. The intestity was there and the switch to soft didnt bug me. I cant say Im a fan now but I can say that I do respect them for owning this little nitch. The keyboardist is assaulting the keyboard and I didnt knwo ther were two singers- nice one. No hate. Pluck on fellas, pluck on.
As for Iman: "These guys irritate me and they are over singing it. Plus the pudgy fuck cheated on Laura Marling which is simply unforgivable.
Still, the sound is oddly comforting like chicken fingers. I was disappointed"
Hey, usually Im the one disappointed!
