I've done a damn good job keeping my separation of music and animals lately. Haven't preached out my ethic Vegan babble on you in awhile but when I see an opportunity to preach through a rocker, let alone a legendary rocker hell yes I will take it
I present to you Mr Iggy Pop, letter writing to the University of Michigan in support of alternative methods of experimentation.
“It’s common sense that cutting apart pigs and maiming cats isn’t the best way to train people to treat humans… UM should not be harming animals when better alternatives are available and already in use on campus.”
Right on bro.
This is in follow up to Pops previous communication in 2009 in support of banning campus circuses:
“As a Michigan native, I was thrilled when my friends at PETA told me about the Michigan State Board of Trustees’ compassionate decision to ban animal circuses from campus in 2009. I hope that you will consider making this a permanent policy.“As students who are concerned with animal welfare have told you, performing animals are deprived of everything that is natural to them, including the ability to roam, forage, and form families and friendships. Circus trainers beat, shock, and whip animals … make them perform tricks that are confusing and meaningless to them.”
I know I shouldn't find the statement "make them perform tricks that are confusing and meaningless to them" amusing, but I do.
Way to go Iggy, thank you!
