Iggy Pop and Ginger Baker "Lonely Boy" Reviewed

Holy shit this slow downed cover of the Black Keys tune "Lonely Boy" almost sounds like someone is sitting on the needle of an old 33rpm.

The drumming by the infamous Baker is dance hall kick drum.  Its hard to hear a song sounding so …old.  I realize that Iggy and Gingy ARE old but they have taken a really upbeat tempo and dragged it down to an almost Nick Cave garble.  Its just wrong and it works.

Every former cool suburban commando is going to call this thing genius.  Every assbag with a PC and a subscription to Spin is going to think this is 'amazing'.  It's crap.

Iggy is a genius, Ginger Baker is legend and together they take a kid tune and make it an oom pa pa slow decent into auditory hell.  But why?  This crap is coming off of a new album in as tribute to The Black Keys titled "Black on Blues".  Why the fuck do The Black Keys deserve a tribute album when they've been around for 11 years and up until a couple ago you didn't even know who the hell they were.  This is the equivalent of Legs McNeil giving tribute to me– its fucking moronic idiotic and sucks harder than a crack fueled man- hoe.
