Ian Watkins is pretty much ruined. Even if the Lost Prophets front man is found innocent he’s already got ‘attempted rape of a 1 year old’ stuck on his back for eternity. He is also being held without parole, adding more stigma to the man with the fantastic voice.
The 35-year-old appeared at a hearing, which lasted less than ten minutes, along with unnamed female co-defendants, aged 20 and 24. The three conspirators were arrested on Dec. 18 and will be held until March 11.
Watkins faces four counts of possession and distribution of indecent images of children, along with the conspiracy to rape allegation. At age 35 and in the land of Gary Glitter you’d think he’d be more cautious and I think the whole ‘pedo’ thing will be blasted out of control. When there is talk of ‘rape of a 1 year old’ it’s really hard to grasp the concept that anyone could even think such a thought. But they do and it happens far too often and say what you will about taboo it’s there and that’s that.
His career is over. Even if found innocent on every count he is done. No one rises above such allegations- ever. His band is out of a job. Can you be ‘Lost Prophets’ new singer? No, you’d be forever called the singer who replaced baby rapist Ian Watkins.
Sad in lots of ways on this one. I’m sad that society is so wacked out, that a great band is done, and that a guys life is over. I’m sure there is merit and I am sure that there is evidence and regardless of all of this it’s just an awful situation. Being held from December to March is pretty damn rough too- the guy is doomed and I hope he has massive security because when this news hits general population- he’s toast.
