IAmDynamite, a North Carolina duo of Chris Martin and Chris Phillips, was playing at the House Of Blues Boston opening up for Blue October. I didn't expect much from the two when they first walked up on stage. The singer Chris M barefoot and wearing a sweatband, need I say more?
I was absolutely blown away. Martin's voice is almost that of Mathew Shulz, the singer of Cage The Elephant- their sound is similar to CTE's as well. With Cage The Elephant being one of my favourite bands, I was captivated by IAmDynamite. Further into their set, though, they almost reminded me of the band from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, The Sex Bomb-Ombs.
With just a guitar, a drum kit, and two strong voices, their unique sound traveled through the crowd. It was so great watching them because it's unbelievable that only two guys could create such a present and fantastic sound. Playing songs like "Where Will We Go", which made me completely fall in love and "Stereo", a good crowd-pleaser, I knew these guys were something special.
"Where Will We Go" is by far my favourite tune by the band. It's strong and reminiscent of some of the greatest punk bands. It has edgy guitar riffs and loud and sharp drums.
"Hi Lo" was beautiful live. Listening to it recorded, I can't tell which I like better. It's so catchy and I just want to get up and move around. All their songs are perfect for parties. Their songs are so strong and pack a real punch.
They're memorable, so energetic live, and beyond fantastic musicians. Words cannot express the two Chris' immense talent- their music really speaks for them.

I requested the set list from the bands merch guy- who contacted the band to get it (I presume). But I waited as long as I could and had to go shoot Blue October. As I exited the pit it would have worked out better if merch guy didn't try get my attention by yelling "hey baby" and grabbing my arm. Heres a tip- if you're old enough to be my parent- recognize the limitations of your 'adult status'
