Hulk Hogan Almost Joined Metallica

When I dug a little the story, I found out it was an old one so I am not sure why it is in the news again, but a few websites are reporting that professional wrestler, bandana-wearing-bleached-hair Hulk Hogan wanted to join, errr… Metallica as well as a few other bands. This is what he said about 2 years ago:

‘I was in England presenting an award with Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger’s ex, and she told me the[Rolling] Stones were looking for a bass player. I sent her a ton of merchandise that she asked for and said ‘Tell Mick I’m a great bassplayer.’  I never heard a word back.’

‘When Metallica was looking for a bass player, I called and never heard a word back from them either. I would have quit wrestling in a heartbeat to be a bass player for Metallica.’

The Hulk man was actually a bass player for almost 10 years and was even in a band called Ruckus in 1976. This is what Spinner/NME/The Sunare now saying:

‘I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler, I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn't work out.’

Funny how the story slightly changed, as the first declaration is from 2009 and the second one only a few days old, so was he really pal with Ulrich? Possible, he is a music lover, this is a guy who has also confessed his love for the Stone Roses.

But just imagine Metallica with this all-muscle, testosterone-factory on bass, he is the incarnation of what heavy metal represents, loud male producinga barbarian sound,… but let’s face it, James Hetfield would have looked totally ridiculous by comparison.
