Holy Ghost! At Le Poisson Rouge, Thursday June 24th, 2010: The Spirit Moves Woody Fuller

Holy ghost! the crowd was locked in on every syllable change that the 9 person ensemble had to give us. I started in the way back of Le Poisson Rouge, chatting it up with the keyboardists father, Bruce, who called his son “a good kid, who was hooked on music since age 6”. All that time he spent practicing payed off. The 6 to 9 man band (depending on the song) consisting of horns, drums, guitars, and vocals was really something else, a sound I have never got the privilege to experience before. Something new and original.

I had no choice but to force my 6’2″ self to the front of the show pulling my three amigos behind me. Once there I fell into a dance trance. I awoke with many new friends all around me and was once again having the time of my life. We danced with one another and sweated each others juices like we were part of the same tribe.

After Neon Indian had their way with us (which was incredible), Holy Ghost! killed it and left after their amazing set. Their holy spirit was still in the air, as 85+ dancing fools kept pushing it until 2:30am. We were all stuck with the dancing spirit inside of us, sweating and grooving with one another like there was no tomorrow. And all thanks to the Holy Ghost!
