This is one piece of news that should make Helen and all the fans of the late great Joe Strummer super happy: Hellcat Records is releasing a new digital compilation, ‘Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, The Hellcat Years’, featuring the three Mescaleros albums, plus never released live material and rare B-sides.
Here is a live version of ‘Yalla Yalla’ posted on Soundcloud, off the debut album ‘Rock Art and the X-Ray Style’, that Strummer introduces as ‘an ancient folk song written in 1999’.
No need to remind everybody that it was the 10th anniversary of Strummer’s death and last August, he would have turned 60.
