1. Runner – Laura Stevenson – Not only is her singing lovely, her lyrics are kinda great “Static transmit me to the other side of another room in pieces; like a steady beating, the summer hurts” but the guitars are all zoom lens Byrdsy excellence – A

2. Last Boat Leaving – Elvis Costello – Left me icy cold at the time, but today if you can cross the bridge the verse is lovely. There is a great Elliott Smith version on youtube somewhere – B+

3. Is That Your Chick – Jay Z, Memphis Bleek, Missy Elliott – Missy steals it in the chorus, Jay Z’s verse is a mind blower – A

4. The Warrior – Scandal – Pure 80s power pop and Patty sounds so goood -it has survived nicely – B+

5. In My Time Of Dying – Led Zeppelin – Dig the slide guitar – A

6. How Beautiful Heaven Must Be – George Jones – Off his first posthumous release Amazing Grace, Billy Sherril producing as he did on The Gospel Collection, one of the greatest albums of all time, and this song so simple with just piano is just as good – A

7. XO – Beyonce – Flatout masterpiece, best thing on the new album, so good I might be overestimating the new album – A

8. Spoonful –  The Tomas Doncker – That secondary riff ten seconds in is the greatest of hard sells – A

9. Spoonful – Howling Wolf – Check out the original, the two guitars sort themselves out in your ear – A+

10. Dismantling Summer – The Wonder Years – We don’t hold a grudge here at rock nyc! I might even like the album more than Mary Magpie does around now!! – A
