Oh man oh man its time to hat tip to Mr. Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull.
I ate some humble pie awhile back after seeing him live. I had bitched he was a has been, I was so wrong that to this day I pay penance for it. From that moment I realized you cant be too old to rock and roll (well not him anyway- others.. yeah totally)
Released in 1971 Aqualung the lp turns 40! Hell yes and like this amazing disc of vinyl it has aged as beautifully as me!
I cannot tell you how I just want to jump on my desk and play air flute whenever I hear anything from the title track to the other and MANY wins on this release “Cross-eyed Mary,” “Locomotive Breath” anyone?
What is this type of music, would it cut it today? That sort of scruffy London alley sound that makes you think your pockets will be picked by Oliver Twist or something and why the hell did Anderson always wear a tunic? Whats with that leg bend thing? WHO GIVES A CRAP?
You cannot listen to Aqualung on a low volume. You can not make it through without at least rolling some air drums at the end- you cant. Don't try. You'll implode.
Jethro Tull will embark upon a Summer tour which will get no where near the East Coast and will perform Aqualung in its entirety. Silly Tull, but I wont disrespect them cuz they've earned my respect 10000 fold and for eternity. Hell Anderson could go on Glee and he would still be a hero.
Its OK that they're not coming this way, Cool but nah I wouldn't want to go anyway cuz I don't want anyone watching me do my mad air flute moves. I was so excited to see this anniversary news that I actually whipped out my copy and have it cranked right this moment.
ya poor ol' sod, ya see its only me…
