Well what a better way for a bunch of old has beens to get some much needed media attention? First you can behave badly. Argue with old band mates, slag them and hurl insults while promoting yourself.
A Las Vegas residency for Guns n Roses is one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard but it is a great example of how the American public spends their discretionary income. If you figure that the average GnR fan is now in their mid 40’s you know that there’s your money card. That demographic has school aged children a house and a couple cars and memories of hair metal days gone by. The gents can remember all too well the patches on their jean jackets and the girls remember those leggings and leg warmers. They now spend weekends on cocktails and pig roasts and planning trips to Vegas or odd islands.
Guns n Roses made a bit of a faux pas when they created this poster. I mean the boys will love it but the girls, maybe not so much.
I see nothing offensive about a woman who appears to have been assaulted under the ‘Welcome’ sign of Vegas on the contrary I find it quite appropriate. This has appeared on billboards, news papers and flyers and the band has been there since Halloween but only now are the ‘anti-sex abuse campaigners’ (pardon but where are the PRO sex abuse campaigners?!, There are none..idiots)
Hannah Brook, executive director of The Rape Crisis Center, tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal, "This type of advertising is simply unacceptable. Not only for just the victims and the message of violence it brings, but also for the community in general. This is not the type of message we want to portray to tourists that are coming to our city. We want them to know it's a safe place to come, and by putting a message out there with Las Vegas above it is concerning."
The Hard Rock bended releasing the following statement : "Hard Rock Hotel & Casino regrets that the Guns N' Roses advertising for their current shows has offended any member of the community. The resort has decided to further modify the art and began the process of changing the materials."
Everyone calm down Guns and Roses suck the show will be done in no time and for God’s sake there is much worse in Vegas to be concerned with than a shitty poster for a shitty band.
