I think it must be a miracle that the one time I saw GNR live, Axl came on stage promptly, played a great set, and then left without incident.
Not so yesterday at his headlining set at the rain soaked Reading Festwhere after being warned that the plug would be pulled promptly he still showed up an hour late and when the plug was pulled, still came on stage for an encore of “Sweet Child Of Mine” which only the drums could be heard.
The audience sang it for him and he found a foghorn and sang through that.
The thing I hate most about rock is waiting for the bands to go on… so idda killed myself. The Reading audience were wiser obviously.
